Today is the day

Andrew Hall of the UK took this photograph of The Snow Child on display at Waterstones bookstore in Chelsmford, UK.

Dear kind readers,

Today is the day The Snow Child is officially released here in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. It’s not yet 11 a.m., and I’m already overwhelmed by the kindness and support for the book.

Tonight, I will gather with friends, relatives, neighbors, and readers at a book release party here in Palmer, Alaska, in conjunction with Fireside Books. The event will be at the Colony Inn, one of the most historic buildings in the area. A fireplace, good food, glasses of wine, people I have known my entire life, and a snowy outdoor scene — it seems like the perfect way to celebrate The Snow Child.

Wherever you are today, I hope you also have a day full of kindness and celebration.

Have a wonderful celebration. Wish we could be there but we will be thinking of all of you. With four hours difference we will be snuggled down in bed when the party begins but we will be sending our happiest thoughts from dreamland.

Can’t wait to see you tonight at the Colony Inn and to pick up my books. My friend in New Hampshire is anxiously awaiting her copy. I’ve asked her to check out her local bookstore and also Costco to see if they have The Snow Child. Will let you know what she finds.

Well done Eowyn!!! All these accolades do not suprise me at all. It is one of my favourite books and considering I have to read so many for my job, that is really saying something. Infact, although I work for a school library I made sure I kept the copy I reviewed rather than donating it to the library, which I usually do. This book is going to be mine, to read again whenever I feel like it.

We had a wonderful time at your book signing, even though we didn’t have the patience to stand in line, instead filling a table with Chickaloonies and glasses of merlot, then continuing the celebration at Turkey Red. Of course, we now need a Chickaloon book signing event. By the way, the bottom dropped out of the barometer yesterday and as you can see it is snowing like a wild banshee today!
